Free calculators that show their working.

Each tool takes the figures a payroll person already has and returns one result, with the rule and the date it rests on. No email, no account.

because since 21 Nov 2025, PF and ESI start from wages as the Code on Social Security defines them, and a calculator on gross pay gives the wrong answer.

  1. ESI calculator

    CalculatorChecked 30 Sep 2026

because ESI is tested on wages as the Code on Social Security defines them, not on gross pay

  2. EPF calculator

    CalculatorChecked 30 Sep 2026

because PF is worked on Code wages up to the ceiling in force on each day, and September 2026 splits at 17 Sep

Code wages

because the wage base decides every figure that follows it.

What wages do PF and ESI calculators use in India?

Wages as the Code on Social Security, 2020, s.2(88) defines them, in force since 21 Nov 2025: all pay except the listed exclusions, so basic, DA, retaining allowance and special allowance all count, and excluded items such as HRA and conveyance are added back where they pass half of total pay. ESI coverage is tested on the same figure (ESIC circular dated 10 Dec 2025).

Templates

because some months are easier to see on a sheet than in a single result.

When a sheet suits the month better than a number.

The templates keep the month by hand: salary slip format, attendance sheet template, leave tracker, appointment letter format, offer letter format, joining letter format, experience letter format, relieving letter format. Each opens with a filled example.

Questions

because a free tool should say what its answer is, and what it is not.

Questions about free HR calculators.

Are these HR calculators free?

Yes. Every calculator is free and needs no email or sign-up. Each shows its working line by line, with the rule behind every step and the date that rule took effect, so you can check the result against your own payroll before you use it.

Why do the calculators use Code wages instead of gross pay?

Since 21 Nov 2025, PF, ESI and gratuity use "wages" as the Code on Social Security defines them: all pay except the listed exclusions, so basic, DA, retaining allowance and special allowance all count, and excluded items such as HRA and conveyance are added back where they pass half of total pay. Working on gross pay, or on basic alone, gives the wrong answer.

Which calculators are available?

There are 2: an ESI calculator and an EPF calculator, both on Code wages. Each takes the figures a payroll person already has and returns one result, with every line of the working shown. The EPF wage-ceiling guide also carries a calculator for September 2026, the month split at 17 Sep.

Are the results final for payroll?

They are worked examples, not a payroll run. They follow the rules and rates in force on the date shown, but rounding, state rules and your salary structure can change the figure, so check the result before you pay or file.

How often are the rates updated?

When a rule changes. Every rate carries the date it took effect, and a change such as the EPF ceiling rising to ₹25,000 on 17 Sep 2026 is added as a new dated value, with the old one kept for earlier months.
